Taking the RELIC crew for their first excursion, Birmingham producer Gumsoul releases his newest EP, Elevation. The release marks an obsession of jazz and especially contemporary NuJazz. Elevation echos the work of 00's era Four Tet; the mighty collaborations with Steve Reid.

Across the first half of the EP, Gumsoul shapes music centred on rhythm, yet focussing on trajectory. The movement and culmination of drums is met with equal exploration of synths and sounds. The combination of these elements can almost contrast, yet Gumsoul always finds abstract harmony which makes Elevation resonate with listeners instantly.

On the second half of the EP, regulars Aught and Clifford provide their versions of the track Slouch, whilst another newcomer, DJ Breadbin (AKA BBC Sport), debuts and establishes the intricacy that can so easily be found within his productions.

This release is for those who love everything NuJazz, Bruk and extremely lovely music.
